Summary
This mobile app concept aims to enhance the travel experience of public transport users by focusing on information technology as the primary infrastructure. By integrating and automating essential services, the app will provide residents with convenient access to real-time information about their journey. This will include features such as live bus tracking, estimated arrival times, route planning, and service disruptions alerts. By leveraging the power of technology, the app will streamline the travel process and empower users to make informed decisions, reducing waiting time and maximizing efficiency.
Role in the Project
The project, "MyTransit: Hassle Free Journey at your Fingertips!" was a collaborative effort that involved various stages of UX research. From collecting information and conducting design thinking exercises to presenting insights from field and online research, I was actively involved. However, the UI design was my individual responsibility. This collaboration allowed us to refine and expand our understanding of the project, leveraging the benefits of teamwork and collective expertise. By combining our efforts and sharing insights, we were able to achieve a more comprehensive and effective outcome for the project.
Introduction
Based on the research findings, it has been observed that people often prefer to arrive at bus stops ahead of schedule, resulting in the wastage of their valuable time. To further understand the challenges faced by individuals while using public transportation, we conducted interviews to gather their opinions. As a result, we have developed a mobile app concept that focuses on utilizing information technology as the primary infrastructure for integrating and automating essential services for residents. This concept aims to address the identified problems and provide convenient solutions for public transport users
Problem Statement: Public transport passengers, including students, working professionals, and senior citizens, encounter numerous challenges in their daily commutes. Time is of utmost importance, and in this age of technology, these tech-savvy individuals seek a solution that is not only user-friendly and easily accessible but also proactive and tailored to their unique requirements. To address these needs, a mobile app concept has been developed that leverages information technology as the primary infrastructure, providing a personalized, efficient, and convenient solution for public transport users.
Solution: Based on our understanding of the problem statement, we have refined our solution that enables users to check the status of their journey on the go, utilizing the advancements in technology. By integrating information technology and automation, our app will provide users with a platform to travel more efficiently and avoid wasting their valuable time at bus stops. With this solution, users will have access to real-time information about their journey, allowing them to plan their time accordingly and make the most of their travel experience.
Design Strategy
The app's design thinking revolves around providing a smart and user-friendly solution for everyday life. It aims to deliver a reliable and secure product that allows users to track bus locations in real-time, book tickets, make online payments, and ensure safety through an SOS feature. By integrating these features, the app enhances convenience and promotes a sense of security for public transport users. The app's focus on information technology as the primary infrastructure enables residents to have easy access to real-time journey information, making their travel experience more efficient and enjoyable.
Target Audience: The app targets a global audience with internet access, including individuals from all parts of the world. Specifically, it caters to Gen Z, Baby Boomers, and Millennials who own smartphones with internet capabilities. By focusing on these demographics, the app aims to provide a reliable and secure solution for public transport passengers.
Features: Our app provides a seamless and convenient experience for public transport passengers by offering a range of features and benefits. Users can make hassle-free payments through our payment wallet, with options including UPI and net banking. We also provide attractive offers and benefits to encourage users to choose our app for their travel needs. Our online ticket scanner allows for easy validation through QR codes, while shareable journey details make it simple to keep others informed. Users can also book and reserve seats for fellow travelers, plan their trips effortlessly, and access a help desk and FAQ section for any assistance they may need. Additionally, our app keeps track of users' travel history and allows them to save their favorite routes for quick access.
Research
In designing this app, a range of UX research methodologies were employed to ensure a user-centered and efficient experience. These methodologies included contextual inquiries and user interviews to understand users' travel habits, pain points, and preferences. Furthermore, a thorough competitive analysis illuminated prevailing strengths and weaknesses within the transportation app landscape. This analytical foundation was supplemented by strategic tools like SWOT Analysis and Affinity Mapping. These efforts were instrumental in shaping precise User Personas and a nuanced Empathy Mapping exercise. These research efforts formed a comprehensive foundation for informed design decisions, resulting in an app that aligns seamlessly with users' needs and offers an intuitive journey planning experience.
