Summary
In a society that is increasingly self-oriented, further intensified by the isolating impact of the pandemic, kindness has started to dwindle, potentially fading into the annals of the past. In these times, peace and mutual trust have gained paramount significance, necessitating any effort that contributes to fostering them. It becomes our human duty to undertake actions that steer in this direction. This typographic message serves as my submission for the @typecampus 'Fight for Kindness' campaign, which commemorates World Kindness Day in November.
Analysis & Ideation
Regarding appearance, including body size, I hold the perspective that numerous individuals, much like myself, tend to be excessively self-critical. Throughout my 31 years of life, moments of comfort with my body type have been exceedingly rare. Even on days when I feel my best, I've managed to find reasons for self-doubt. However, it's important to acknowledge that self-deprecating thoughts aren't inherent; they are imposed by external influences, often referred to as societal norms. With this poster, my intention is to radiate positivity towards our individual bodies.
Research & Aesthetics
Centering around the concept of diverse body shapes, I've created custom typography that visually represents the five most prevalent body types: rectangle, triangle, inverted triangle, hourglass, and round. This approach not only celebrates the unique forms that individuals embody but also fosters a sense of inclusivity by showcasing a range of body silhouettes. Through this design, I aim to promote body positivity and the acceptance of various body types in our society.
The message I aim to convey with this poster campaign is a message of positivity and self-acceptance for both our bodies and our sense of self. And it is encapsulated in the phrase "Love the shape you're in. You are beautiful."
